In the old testament God provides the Ten Commandments for the children of Israel after they were freed from Egypt. The Ten Commandments were rules that we were unable to keep. Jesus simplifies in the New Testament these Ten Commandments into two commandments. Love God. Love People. In Matt. 22:37-39
it says "Jesus relied: "' Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, This is the first and the greatest commandment. And the second is like it:'Love your neighbor as you love yourself '". NIV. In order to love your neighbor as yourself, you have to love yourself. God doesn't just make rules to take away our fun, he makes rules to protect our hearts. Imagine your heart as a sapling. You have to protect the sapling it needs to grow and be nurtured. You can't let people stomp on the sapling. The sapling won't grow and you will have to replant. God wants to protect you from the enemy's attempts to stomp on your heart. God showed me a picture laying in green grass and flowers and Jesus came up and laid down beside me and said "Some people see me as a god who stands over you and constantly makes rules to take away the fun in your life.I'm not a dictator. I want you to have joy and peace, but people see me as that type of god and I'm really the type of god who is playful, and never angry, and loving." Do you really think that God would create you to have a miserable life? Take it this way, would you want your kid to be sad all the time and cry themselves to sleep every night? No! If I had a kid i sure wouldn't! I would do everything I could to cheer them up and make them happy. God wants you to live a JOYFUL life and he want to give you everything you need! If He wants to do all these things for you, do you think He'd want to give you tons of rules? He doesn't. He has rules, but you have free will. You can choose life on earth, or life eternal in heaven, INCLUDING a great life on earth for FREE but you have to accept it. Like I said in my last post, it's your decision.
